Are you a parent or caregiver who knows you need to go beyond "the talk," but just aren't sure what kids need to know when, or exactly how to go about telling them? In this class with Rebecca Koon, you'll build knowledge and skills that will help you talk about sexuality with the littles in your life with ease and confidence.
We'll go over what sexuality is (it's a lot bigger than you might think!), why it's so important to talk about it early and often, how to clarify your values, and exactly what kids need to know at what age. You'll also learn a step-by-step process for answering even the toughest questions, get tips for starting conversations and a list of recommended resources for both kids and adults. Come with your questions and challenges so we can think through them together! This class will be most relevant to caregivers of 4-12 year olds, though others are also very welcome.
Rebecca Koon has been teaching sexuality for over 10 years to people of all ages. She got her start in Planned Parenthood's education program, has trained reproductive health care providers, teachers, and other youth-serving professionals, and she's been a labor doula and childbirth educator. She did graduate work in Women and Gender studies and brings an intersectional feminist approach to all of her work.
You'll notice that we're offering two class cost options - $25, the regular cost of a She Bop class or workshop, and $15, a reduced cost option. While we want to make sure our instructors are compensated fairly for their hard work, we recognize that many of our community members are experiencing alterations to their finances at this time. If you are able to pay full price, we ask that you please consider doing so. If the lower cost option is a more accessible fit for you at this time, we encourage you to utilize that option.
